Welcome to The Novel Endeavor! My name is Lori and I am married to Chris, a strong, caring, and extremely humorous husband who just happens to be my biggest champion. I am also a full-time mom to my beautiful baby girl, Aliana (a.k.a. Lil’ Miss). She is sweet, spunky, and a joy to my life. My family is my inspiration and, along with being a follower of Jesus, the most important influencing factor in my life.
I like to think of myself as the strong, witty, silent-type. Once, I was given the superlative for “Best Witty Side-Comments” by my teammates that I worked with. Honestly, I am very proud of it and cherish it to this day. I am a self-proclaimed introvert and comfortable in my own skin. God created me to savor silence, be a voracious reader, and love the company of my own thoughts. A few of my favorite books are Gone with the Wind, Jane Eyre, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Hiding Place, and the Harry Potter series.
With that said, I love friendship; I especially value those that know me and love me well. There is nothing better than sharing a couch and a blanket with your best friend while you both curl up with a good book! (I have several close friends, including my husband, that are extroverts and they are chuckling as they read this.)
Whether you are introvert, extrovert, or a little bit of both, I hope that you will stick around and join me on my Novel Endeavor. You never know where a good book might take you!
The Novel Endeavor
The Novel Endeavor is fueled by my passion for books. While I am no literary critic or reading guru, I find that the best days always include books. Currently, I am on a journey to expand my literary horizons by reading authors and genres that I’ve yet to explore; hence, the birth of The Novel Endeavor. I’ve decided to begin my endeavor with Pulitzer Prize winning fiction by utilizing the “Pulitzer Jar.” Each week, I will randomly draw out a new book and list my thoughts and impressions here. I’m looking forward to trekking through some great fiction and refining my skills of observation and interpretation along the way. Who knows, maybe you will decide to take a Novel Endeavor yourself!?
Adoption and Motherhood
Besides traipsing through uncharted book territories, I will also share about The Novel Endeavor into motherhood and adoption. A significant part of our family’s story is that Aliana is adopted. After a year of waiting, we joyously brought our baby girl to her forever home near the end of 2015. The following months completely took me by surprise as I adjusted to my long-awaited role of being a mom. You see, becoming a mom has been the most fulfilling, and yet, the most trying experience of my life thus far. Each day I find new adventures and challenges awaiting me. I hope that by sharing about my experiences from a unique perspective I can encourage other women in pursuing and persevering in their dreams of motherhood.
